Tshirts

I'd got my stencils all cut out and ready to screenprint on to some blank tshirts I bought, only to discover I was out of white acrylic. Frustrating. So Friday I went to the art shop and stocked up not only on white acrylic, but these lovely brights as well. & then I spent the weekend screenprinting. Here's the results:

I was too impatient to find willing persons to model them for me, so went for the do-it-yourself approach. I'm hoping to draft in some poor unsuspecting male to display the men's T in all its glory at some stage, but these photos will have to do for the time being.
They're now up for sale on Etsy and Folksy.

the t-shirts look brilliant! I love the colour.. it makes me wish I could cut my own stencils.. though I'm pretty sure I would be rubbish at that.. I'll stick to cake baking for now..

Thank you! I'm quite pleased with how they turned out in the end. Give stencils a go - it kills your fingers a bit, but it's quite satisfying :) Although cake baking still sounds pretty good to me...

Lucy, I posted an illustration of yours from Flickr on my blog. I attributed it you, but if it's a problem I'll take it down. I continue to find more of amazing line drawings from you ... so cool.

Hey Lisa!
I've got this System 3 Screen Printing kit which was about...35 pounds, and comes with acrylics which you mix up with the printing medium (it comes with both a normal and a textile medium). It's a pretty good set - I recommend it! :)

Where did you get it from? Also I'm amazed that it's acrylics they use - normal acrylics? Do they stay on the printed item when washed ok?

More questions :-)

I got it from Hussey & Greaves in Chelmsford, but I think they have them in HobbyCraft in Basildon, too. It recommends you use the System 3 acrylics, and as long as it's mixed with the textile medium and iron on the reverse when it's dried, it should fix ok! :)

Hi Lucy HELP!! I've got my screen print kit, did a very not successful screen print (see my blog soon I'll show on there - www.lisajhorner.com) How do you get the paint off the screen print? I haven't got a jet powered extension to my average kitchen taps - what have you got? Do you use any chemical to get rid of the paint that remains there? :-( If you have any advice that would be great.

Hi Lisa! I use the shower head in the bath (probably to my mum's dispair)with warm (but not too hot) water. Tends to do the trick, but has to be done really soon after printing before it dries on the screen. Could always give a bit of washing-up liquid a go...
Good luck, hope it's not ruined!
